This day has been formally certified by the Japan Anniversary Association. 
In 2025, we are also celebrating the 44th anniversary of "Wizardry". To kick off this milestone, we are announcing a series of special projects to fuel your adventures.

Celebrating "Wizardry Day": A Message from Robert Woodhead

In 2025, Wizardry will celebrate its 44th anniversary. To show our gratitude to the fans who have supported the Wizardry series for so long, and with the desire to carry the appeal of this timeless masterpiece into the future, we have decided to officially designate September 15th as "Wizardry Day."
To celebrate this commemorative day, we have received a congratulatory message from Robert Woodhead, one of the creators of Wizardry.

Back in 1981, when Wizardry was first released, there wasn't really a concept of a pre-announced 'release date' for new games. There were no companies specializing in distribution or manufacturing, all software publishers handled production themselves. I personally stayed up many nights watching as multiple computers slowly duplicated the game, inserting and removing floppy disks one by one.

Wizardry was initially shipped in early September 1981. Considering the distribution situation at the time, it likely first appeared in stores in mid-September.

With this in mind, September 15th -- in the middle of September -- would be a reasonable date to celebrate the birth of Wizardry.

Congratulations on the establishment of Wizardry Day! I am truly grateful and amazed that everyone has continued to love this game for 44 years. I wish you good fortune as you continue to savor the risk!
